There’s still a lot of attention being paid to the confrontation in Nevada. Rancher Cliven Bundy is in a dispute with the Federal government over land and grazing rights. Well known author of “2016: Obama’s America” Dinesh D’Souza joined the Morning Answer to give his take on the situation after having visited the property.
Dinesh explained he made the trip because Harry Reid had called supporters of Bundy “domestic terrorists.” “I never really met a ‘domestic terrorist’ so I thought it might be really nice to go land on the ranch and try to figure out if these were really scary characters,” explained D’Souza.
Morning Answer host Ben Shapiro wondered how scary they really were.
“There were a few militant guys there that scared me. These were the guys that were in fatigues. But they were by far the minority,” described D’Souza. “Most of it were just American families who were living across the border from Arizona – there were a whole bunch of kids there. Pretty much everyone had signs that said ‘Domestic Terrorist.’” He went on to say he got pictures with a five-year-old ‘Domestic Terrorist’ and it was very clear that what was going on was a Patriotic movement who were worried about Federal incursion.
D’Souza also admitted he wasn’t really sure about who was right and who was wrong. “We’ve reached an odd phase in our country where you send SWAT teams…with assault rifles to the homes of Americans,” he lamented.
Brian Whitman pressed D’Souza, asking him, “Isn’t whether he’s in the right or whether he’s in the wrong – doesn’t that matter anymore?”
“Of course that’s a factor,” replied D’Souza. “But it’s also a factor in how you’re treated by the Government. We’re entitled to be treated equally under the law.”
