Acting IRS Commissioner Steven Miller has resigned amidst controversy surround the IRS targeting of conservative groups.
Congressman Tom McClintock joined Brian Whitman and Elisha Krauss on the Morning Answer to discuss the latest in the scandal.
Brian asked McClintock if the IRS performed audits or was it just scrutiny in terms of tax-exempt status.
“Oh no, there were audits. In fact, in several cases after holding up their applications for several years and subjecting these groups to the most intimidating and intrusive questions – they were being asked for transcripts of their meetings, what positions they’d taken on issues, the names of their volunteers and their donors and in some cases their family members, copies of privileged communications they had with elected officials.”
He went on to say that in several cases, the person filing the application was then subjected to a personal income tax audit.
