After yesterday’s terrorist bombing of the Boston Marathon, law enforcement across the country are on high alert. LAPD Commander Andrew Smith joined the Morning Answer to discuss extra security steps taking place in Los Angeles.
First off, he assured AM870 listeners that there was no indication that Boston had any relation to LA or the Southern California area. However, he says they are ramping up “everything.” “We’ve got way more officers out in uniform,” Smith told listeners, “we had a huge presecnce at Dodger Stadium… our Department Operations Center is up and operational.” He also said that bomb detection K9 officers will be visible at the airport and other venues.
Ben Shapiro asked Smith if there had been any heightened chatter. “No not really, you know what—there’s still a lot of confusion about what happened out there. Even this morning I’m getting conflicting reports about exactly what happened out there.” Smith told Ben that until they get the responsible party or parties in custody, they won’t know for sure.
