By now you've probably seen the epic takedown of Piers Morgan by the Morning Answer's Ben Shapiro. Now Ben has opened up about what went on off-the-air during the contentious interview.
Morning Answer Co-host Brian Whitman asked Ben what the mood was like between him and Piers during the commercial break. Tongue-in-cheek Ben told Brian, "they actually brought out an iceberg and put it on the table between us and it actually warmed the room."
Ben described Piers as a "cold, cold person" and that he refused eye contact from the outset and didn't speak to him during the breaks. It only got worse as time went on.
When Ben presented Piers with a copy of the constitution, he said he could hear somebody in the studio go, "OH __blank___!" "I really had to bite my lip," said Ben, "nobody else could hear it."
Ben also explained how he foiled a sandbag attempt by Piers Morgan. He explained that they brought out a paralyzed kid in a wheelchair and were positioning cameras like they were going to cut to the kid and back to him to comment. "Because I had launched the interview with 'standing on the graves of the kids of Sandy Hook' [Piers] couldn't go there."
Not backing down, Ben explained that he absolutely would have said "now you're standing on the wheelchair of this poor guy trying to push your political position.
