Long Beach Police Chief Jim McDonnell Running for LA Sheriff

Long Beach Police Chief Jim McDonnell is running for Los Angeles County sheriff.  McDonnell previously declined to run for sheriff but says things changed last week when Sheriff Lee Baca announced he will retire at the end of January.

McDonnell has headed the LBPD since 2010 and before that, he worked with the Los Angeles Police Department for 29 years, where he ultimately served as second in command.  He's already listed 20 endorsements from prominent Southern California leaders including LAPD Chief Charlie Beck.  The primary election is scheduled for June
