A father and two children are dead after a fire in Sylmar. Brian Humphrey with LA Fire reprots that a two story metal-clad "barn like" structure caught fire before 5am on Monday.
Over 30 firefighters worked to put out the blaze, which took about 25 minutes. A family of four, including a mother, father, pre-teen boy and pre-teen girl were all pulled out alive. All four were taken to the hospital in grave condition. The father and two children later passed away.
The residential structure did not have smoke alarms and fire officials say that the family did not appear to have an escape plan.
