South LA Protest Turns Unruly, Police Issue Warning
Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti and Police Chief Charlie Beck are warning citizens that more unruly protests over the George Zimmerman verdict won't be tolerated.
Last night at a press conference, Beck said 350 officers were deployed in the South Los Angeles area. A citywide tactical alert was declared around 8:30pm after a mob broke off from a prayer vigil and marched down Crenshaw Blvd. Several cars and businesses were vandalized. In addition, a news cameraman and reporter were attacked and suffered minor injuries.
Police ended up arresting 14 people after declaring an unlawful assembly just before 10pm.
