Suspected LAX shooter Paul Ciancia could face the death penalty if he's convicted for his rampage. Prosecutors for the federal government filed charges of murder and "commission of violence at an international airport" against Ciancia.
Authorities believe that Ciancia was specifically targetting TSA employees during the shooting. A note found on him talked about stirring fear in "traitorous minds" and expressed other anti-government sentiments. It also said he expected to die in an airport shootout.
During the shooting spree, Ciancia shot and killed TSA employee Gerardo Hernandez. He was the first person to die in the line of duty in the agencies 12-year history.
