Postal worker Lydia Ray is in serious condition after a hit-and-run accident ejected her from a mail truck.
The crash happened shortly after noon on Saturday. The mail truck was traveling southbound on Santa Fe Ave just past Euclid when a blue 3-series BMW tried to pass and instead clipped the rear bumper. That caused the truck to lose control, swerve in to the northbound lanes and collide with parked cars.
Ray was thrown out and landed between the parked vehicles. Compton Fire Paramedics took her to a local hospital. At last check, she was in serious condition with internal injuries, as well as injuries to her left leg and arm.
