The Millennium Project can go ahead after the LA City Council voted 13-0 to approve it on Wednesday night.
A "transit oriented development" project, the twin skyscapers will provide offices, retail and hotel space along Vine St near the Capitol Records building in Hollywood.
Opponents raised concerns over traffic and that the project is located on a major faultline. Proponents said that the project would bring economic benefits to city.
Mayor Garcetti he will sign the deal when it comes across his desk.
Construction is expected to begin next year but nearby homeowners plan to continue to fight against the project.
